Steve Jobs
MacWorld 2009 keynote: pretty light on iPhone news
Is it possible Steve Jobs bowing out of MacWorld 2009 because of health problems was just a cover story, and the real reason is just because Apple had nothing exciting to announce?
Steve Jobs finally addresses his health
In an open letter to the "Apple Community", Steve Jobs has finally opened up about what's been causing his dramatic weight loss, and, at least if he's to be taken at his word, it's unrelated to the pancreatic cancer that nearly killed him a few years ago. Rather, his latest condition is being caused by a hormonal imbalance that is completely treatable:
Source: Steve Jobs dying real reason MacWorld is being canceled
A source that Gizmodo swears by is admitting that Steve Jobs health is in much more dire condition and the real reason MacWorld is being canceled after this year:
Steve Jobs: I do NOT have cancer!
It's no secret in the past year Steve Jobs has become the incredible shrinking man, going from skinny to even skinnier and leading to speculation that the pancreatic cancer that nearly took his life in 2004 had returned.
In an exclusive but not especially pleasant phone call to New York Times business reporter Joe Nocera, Jobs revealed the truth about his medical condition; here's the small part of the interview that was on the record:
iPhone Problems: Why are Canadians being charged so much?
So apparently iPhone owners in Canada are all up in arms because exclusive carrier Rogers Communications is ripping their customers with over-the-top data plans, - 300 weekday minutes, 750mb data cap on 3G phones, with a three year commitment for 75 bucks a month... $93 with tax.
iPhone 3G already on Apple Store for preorder
Within minutes of Steve Jobs' iPhone presentation being concluded, the Apple store already had the 3G iPhone up for preorder. Once again the big suprise is that the 8GB iPhone 3G will only cost $199, with the 16GB costing $299 and coming in white. Both prices are with AT&T contrac.
The handset will be available July 11th in 22 major markets, with the rollout eventually reaching 70 different countries.
Steve Jobs Keynote: iPhone 3G is here!
After what seems like 10 years of waiting, the iPhone 3G has officially been announced!
And the device is now 3.6 times faster on the new 3G network, but the big news is the price, it's been lowered to $199 for the 8GB version. A 16GB version will cost $299 and be available in white. It also has the much rumored addition of GPS, as well as the all black back and a make that's thinner around the edges.
Steve Jobs Keynote: Applications Store
The App Store concept is being a little more fleshed out...
It will be available in 62 countries and developers can keep 70% of revenues. If the application is less than 10MB they can be downloaded directly on a cell phone, otherwise via Wi-Fi or the computer version of iTunes.
Applications that are free for users, the App store will host for free, and the programs will be wrapped with FairPlay DRM.
Tony Soprano to rough up your cell phone
It appears that HBO has finally given Steve Jobs an offer he couldn't refuse; bending the long held one price for everything structure of iTunes to allow such programs as The Sopranos, Rome, and Deadwood to be sold for $2.99 per episode.
Other HBO properties such as Sex in the City, The Wire, and Flight of the Conchords will also be available for download on iPhones, iPods, and the web, but for the traditional iTunes price of $1.99 per episode.
3G iPhone officially unofficially to be announced Monday, June 9
Okay, here's how it works: Apple hasn't officially admitted that's the date they'll physically unveil the 2nd generation iPhone, but at Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference, that's Monday, June 9th is the date and 10am PCT the time that Steve Jobs will give his keynote speech.
