When senator Herb Kohl, who happens to also be chairman of the Senate antitrust subcommittee, noticed that SMS prices have doubled among the big four carriers the last three years, it set off a red flag that looks to be leading to public hearings on the issue. 

Why is it cell phone manufactures Photoshop everything else out of the picture but insist on keeping the shadow in frame? What, are they afraid we'll think it's a vampire cell phone that doesn't cast a shadow?

Americans traditionally like to watch their football on a big as screen as possible, so I have to believe that Sprint is getting ripped off. They recently signed a deal with the NFL believed to $500 million over 5 year, to broadcast the audio of all NFL games over their cell phones and live push the video from a select few games each year from the NFL Network onto their handsets.

Cell phone carriers have the tendency to spruce up their internet sites with online exclusives - but are those deals any better than what they have in the stores? Here's a look at the latest offers being peddled in cyberspace:

It's an oversimplification but basically T-Mobile.

The cheapest monthly plan you can get through T-Mobile is $29.99 which gets you 300 whenever minute, unlimited free weekend minutes, and free long distance and roaming. Sprint's Basic 200 plan is nearly as good, while it only gives you 200 anytime minutes, it also gives free Sprint roaming, unlimited free weekends and adds unlimited free minutes after 9pm. 

If you think cell phone termination fees are unfair well get this... the goverment actually agrees with you.

California Superior Court Judge Bonnie Sabraw has just issued a tenitive ruling against Sprint, and for a class action suit of Sprint customers, stating that the terminations fees are illegal. Sprint must pay $18.3 to customers who paid the fee, and another $54.8 in credit to the customers who refused to pay the fee.

Lower prices tingling!

Sprint's iPhone like Samsung Instinct doesn't even go on sale until June 20th, and they already can't stop slashing the price of it: the latest is drop is from an iPhone like $199, to $129 after rebate with a two year commitment.

No one quite knew what it was or did and come July 1st 2008, no one ever will.
