LG Chocolate Platinum Edition Review

lg_ke800_chocolate platinum.jpgTo run with the candy bar metaphor, this phone would be a Willy Wonka.

The original LG Chocolate was visually stunningly yes, the sleek red accented slider phone design is still in a league of it's own, but as Tech Digest pointed out in their initial write up, the Chocolate was a bit of a style over substance, as such features 1.3 megapixel camera and 128MB memory even nearly a year ago, wasn't that impressive. However with the LG Chocolate Platinum Edition; review of the model shows that schism seems to have been bridged.

Upgrades abound, as the camera on the LG Chocolate Platinum is now 2.0 megapixel and internal memory has been ramped up to 256MB. Additionally, they've added the SD memory card slot that was sorely missed in the original, making this a more music friendly model. The music and video player not only plays MP3s, AAC, WAV, and MPEG-4, but also now comes with a FM radio, all compatible with Wireless Bluetooth headsets.

Great if want to go on the go with your favorite album, or just listen to Classic Hits ringtones.

There's also a cool little function that let's you search your music through voice commands and through keyword search. Related, unlike the original Chocolate, Platinum Edition features a strong, usable speaker phone.

Other than that, other points worth noting in this LG Chocolate Platinum Edition Review is it's both USB and EDGE compatible; offers about 6 hours of talk time; and keep in mind while the central touchpad, is essentially the same design, it's a little more precise, as you need to touch the red on the directional and OK keys for it to respond.

To be sure, the biggest reason to get this phone remains it's eye catching design, but with a notable upgrade, a LG Chocolate Platinum Edition Review finds it's no longer the only reason.
