How Do I Unlock My Phone for Free?

How do I unlock my phone for free? As you all probably know, your phone is locked by your service provider. That means that if you will take a different SIM card from a different service provider, the cellphone will give you a message that your phone is locked and will ask you to enter some number code to unlock your cellular phone and by doing that you can use your cellphone with a different cellphone service provider. You see, this way they think you will not leave them because you will try to avoid spending the money on a new phone…But don’t worry, I have the solution…and it's free.
There are a lot of places like websites and mobile stores that will actually try to charge you money for unlocking your phone but I found a totally free alternative to unlock you cellular phone…(If you have a Motorola brand cell phone, you're out of luck…sorry.) There are many programs on the net that are offering this service for free and what these programs do is generate a code to unlock your phone. For example, I found the following program very easy to use and very handy - it called FREE Smart DCT-4 Code Calculator. There are more programs that are all pretty much the same, you can go to download.com and simply type the words 'unlock phone' in the search bar.
First you need to download the program to your computer and after you download the program, run it. Then you will need to enter the Imei number, which is a serial number that you can find on the back of your cellphone, under the battery, or you can press on your phone keypad *#06# and the Imei will be displayed on the screen, (if you look under the battery it will look something like this: 253486/54/676745/1. Now that you have the Imei number, you need to enter it into the program without the dashes, only the numbers:

Next you need to choose the country from where you are using the phone:

After you select the country, you will see a box with an option to change the code type, which changes the way you will see the code to unlock your phone… It is recommended to leave it on 'V2 Codes'.

Now you will need to press the button called Calculate Unlock Codes - the codes will be calculated and this is what you will see:
It is strongly recommended to first use the Recommended Unlock Code. If that doesn’t work, then try the other codes.
It is also very important to remove the SIM card from your phone before you enter the unlocking phone code. Plus you need to enter the code exactly the way you see it.
For the letter "p" press the * (star) button 3 times quickly
For the letter "w" press the * (star) button 4 times quickly
For the "+" press the * (star) button 2 times quickly
After you enter the code you will see a message: Code Restriction Off. If it doesn’t work you will see a message: Code Error.
It is very important to mention that you only have 5 attempts to enter an unlock code. After that you will see a message Cannot Undo Restriction or Not Allowed. Don’t worry, your phone will still work with the original SIM card, but then you will probably need to go to a mobile store to unlock your phone using their special Unlocking Equipment.
